I have same proble. I use CentOS 5.3
latest squid: 3.1.0.14-20091004
[root_at_build SOURCES]# grep filedescriptors squid.spec
--with-filedescriptors=16384 \
[root_at_build SOURCES]# cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max
34745
[root_at_build SOURCES]# grep file /var/log/squid/cache.log
2009/10/05 01:26:07| With 1024 file descriptors available
What`s wrong I do?
And where are must to set "ulimit -HSn 32768" ?
