You can use both coss & aufs on the same drive. To keep config clean
just move the aufs data down to a folder below the root of that disk.

cd /cache
mkdir aufs
mv ?? swap.state* aufs
mkdir coss1
[repeat for as many coss stores you need]

then reconfigure squid as appropriate.
