My logging daemon stuff is now in Squid-2-HEAD:
http://squidproxy.wordpress.com/
This makes it very easy to write "other" logfile processing modules -
MySQL logging, for example - so feel free to give it a whirl.
The logfile daemon stuff should support logging thousands of requests
a second to disk, something the current Squid can't handle. So
assuming you have the disk space (and, thinking about it, a 300 gig
SATA disk is < $100 these days) and you need the logs, you can
now save all your logs for later analysis without any performance
issues.
