Try starting Squid in foreground mode..

/path/to/sbin/squid -DNYCd3

Looks a bit odd.. looks like there is many Squid parents.. Who started
process 27377?

What OS distribution is this?

Is there anyhing odd in how Squid is being started?

You own compiled Squid, or a binary package?

If from source, any patches applied or a plain 2.6.STABLE9 source tree?
