A word from the developers:

Unless you plan on updating the Squid sources daily or help with the
coding of Squid, use the distributed tarballs.

Issues with development versions of Squid should be reported to
squid-dev@squid-cache.org. Note that you do not need to be a
subscriber to report an issue. Do not report problems or issues with
development versions of Squid on the Squid-users mailinglist.

Squid-users is about general discussion about STABLE versions of
Squid. Not development versions.
