cache_mem doesn't need to be that high unless you are *really*

Ok. Upgrade to the latest 2.4 snapshot - here's a heap of litle
bugfixes in here.

Next, look at using the aufs filesystem. The aufs filesystem uses
threads for asynchronous disk IO and will work rather nicely under
solaris.

Finally, yes .. breaking up the stripe into individual disks
is going to help.
