I have just installed squid on Linux RedHat version 7.0. The config for the
machine is
Pentium III 800 Mhz
64 Mb Ram
10 Gb Hd (using 4GB for squid cache)
After installing squid and going through the faq for squid I still cannot
figure out why it is so slow... I mean when I download a page and if I
redownload it from another machine that points to the proxy ... there is a
significant delay in retrieving the page.
went through the client manager and found out that squid is doing a lot of
paging. The FAQ states that the ratio pagefaults/http requests should be
between 0.0 - 0.1 or at most 0.0 - 0.2 but mine is 13 ... which is terrible
.. the reason I guess squid is so sluggish... can someone please help me
since I am in dire need of some serious help.. would really appreciate your
help.
