Any reason you didn't include the actual link?

It may be the same problem I was having. Is the applet trying to connect via
its own connection? You may need to set something up where the user uses a
firewall and Squid the same time. HTTP request go over squid, but once the
program starts and it wants to chat on its own, it will try to reach the
internet outside of the proxy. Atypically through the default gateway.
