You've probably hit an issue of some sort with version skew. NTLM is based
on the HEAD branch in CVS, which is now different from 2.4 (as 2.4 is locked
down pending public release.
The NTLM code is not going into the 2.4 release, as it is still only beta
quality. If you want to use NTLM wyou will need to use CVS to download the
'ntlm' branch, or you could try the snapshot of auth_rewrite I posted about
a few days ago..
