I'd forgotten that. Many web-pages _do_ use it, though. Even Microsloth
did for a while as a part of their inactive-X thing, based on the
assumption that the directive would instruct everything not to cache.
And, indeed, you'll find that most browsers - at least - honour 'pragma:
no-cache' as an instruction not to cache the object. I know it's not
_right_, but that's what's done. (Not that I am suggesting we should
conform and continue to encourage incorrect behaviour)
