I've been running Squid 1.1.16 since Sept. '97 on two twin Linux
2.0.3x servers. Each one is a P200 with 64M RAM and 1G of cache, and I
_never_ had a single problem - they work great, too. They serve the
entire school district, with peak time requests around 2-3/sec (which
admittedly isn't very high, in the light of what many others say they
load Squid with:)). I also run it at home (v.1.1.20), now with Redhat
5.0, and still no problems whatsoever. Soon we'll add more similar
boxes at the busiest sites, since the real bottlenecks are now the
datapipes connecting them to the central shop where the Squids serve.
Bottom line, I'm extremely happy with both Squid and Linux, and I'd
recommend them without hesitation :)
