1) I wonder about ulimits?
run bash
type 'ulimit -a' and see if there is a memory limit or swap limit.
otherwise, try squid-NOVM, and also see if gnu-malloc helps...
anar@azeri.com had a similar problem about 2 days ago... want to give
him a mail and see if he sorted something out?
