problem with install squid 1.1.16

I have problem with set append_domain in squid.conf file
I set it as "append_domain.macarthur.uws.EDU.AU"
then run #squid
97/09/02 17:21:02| parseConfigFile: line 978 unrecognized:
'append_domain.macarthur.uws.EDU.AU'

What is the problem?

Any comments will be appreciated
