} I'd vote for application/octet-stream. Ftpget really does not know
} anything about the file in question apart from the fact that it is an
} octet stream (or will be presented as one by the remote FTP server).
How about a slightly different variation....
- Allow a trailing part to the ftp URL of the form
ftp://ftp/url?mime-type/subtype
- If specified then ftpget would send back a mime-type/subtype
[and for text/* change the transfer mode to ascii]
- If no type is specified and no type can be deduced, return an
application/octet-stream
- When generating a directory listing, if a file is seen that cannot
by typed generate 2 <A...> bits for it - one with stuff defaulted
to binary, the other to force fetching as text.
I am not convinced its the right thing to do, but it does allow
flexibility.
