\.jp..$ won't cut it because it only catches jpeg files, not jpg files.
And \.jp.$ is dangerous because it matches http://some.domain.jp/
(or am I overlooking something?)!

So when you need two patterns anyway, why not use \.jpg$ and \.jpeg$
?
