It seems that global.c was not created or was created empty.

Two typical reasons: not working perl or bad text format.

What source archive do you have used ? .tar.gz or .zip ?

You must use the .tar.gz archive, expanding it from the MSYS command prompt.

Any other thing, will give you sources and scripts with the wrong
text format (DOS vs Unix).
